Flat Feet

What Are Flat Feet?

Flat feet, or pes planus, is a condition where the arches on the inner side of the feet are flattened, causing the entire sole to touch the ground while standing. It can result from incomplete arch development during childhood or from injuries and aging. While some might not feel any discomfort, others may experience pain in the heel or arch area, particularly during physical activities due to stretched tendons along the inside of the ankle. Management involves supportive measures based on individual symptoms and severity.

Symptoms of Flat Feet

Flat feet, known as pes planus, might cause discomfort in the arch, heel, or ankle, especially after standing or physical activities. Swelling along the inner ankle, foot fatigue, shoe-fitting issues, uneven shoe wear, and possible lower leg or back discomfort due to altered posture can also occur. Seeking guidance from a healthcare professional or podiatrist is recommended for managing flat feet-related discomfort.
